Recycling FAQ

How Do You Recycle My Waste?

Our expert recycling team carefully sifts and sorts the contents of your skip to maximise recycling efficiency. We collaborate with a variety of charities, community organisations, and recycling partners to ensure that 98% of your skip’s contents are recycled or reused.

If it’s in good condition, it is donated to charity or community organisations. Otherwise, furniture is broken down into its component parts for recycling.

All organic materials are composted or mulched to promote sustainable waste management.

White goods are dismantled into their component parts—primarily metals and plastics—which are then sent for recycling.

Timber is cleaned, stripped, decontaminated, and sorted before being shredded into chips for use in compost and fertilisers.

Plastics are sorted into different types (e.g., soft plastics, hard plastics) and then recycled into pellets, which are used in future plastic production through extrusion.

Metal is sorted into steel, aluminium, copper, and other categories. It is then cleaned, decontaminated, and melted down in a furnace. The liquid metal is reformed into sheets, cubes, or ingots, which are used by metal product manufacturers.

Concrete, bricks, tiles, and other construction materials are sorted and crushed into different grades of rubble, which are then used in infrastructure and construction projects.

Rubber tyres are cleaned, shredded, and repurposed to create durable playground surfaces, athletics tracks, and road surfaces.

The standard hire period is up to 7 days, but extensions are usually available upon request. Eco Skip Hire Adelaide understands that some projects take longer than expected, and we are happy to accommodate where possible.

General FAQ

Simply call our friendly team, let us know what you need to dispose of, and we’ll recommend the best skip size for your project. If you’re disposing of bulky items such as sofas or chairs, taking an approximate measurement will help our team suggest the most suitable skip.

Eco Skips should only be filled to the same height as the edges (walls) of the skip. For safety reasons, all skips must be covered during transportation. Overfilling the skip may prevent us from securely covering and moving it. If this happens, we may need to unload or rearrange the contents, which could incur additional charges.

If you call us in the morning, we can often deliver your skip that same afternoon. However, we recommend giving at least 24 hours’ notice to ensure availability.

Our pricing includes up to 7 days of skip hire. If you need an earlier collection, simply let us know at the time of booking. If you fill the skip faster than expected, give us a call, and we’ll arrange for prompt collection.

Yes! Just call our team to let us know when you’d like it collected. Extending your hire period may incur additional charges.

Yes, we cannot accept asbestos, chemicals, or liquid waste. You must inform us of any non-standard waste such as gas bottles, paint, oil, batteries, or mattresses, as these require special handling and must be included in your hire contract. Additional charges may apply if non-standard items are found in your skip without prior agreement.

The standard hire period is up to 7 days, but we can usually extend it upon request.
